Hyderabad: BJP Legislature Party Leader A. Maheshwar Reddy has accused Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy of promoting defections. He challenged the Chief Minister to ensure that all MLAs who switched from other parties to the Congress resign and seek reelection.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Maheshwar Reddy claimed that the Chief Minister was employing unethical tactics to lure opposition MLAs. He stated, ‘If these MLAs wish to join Congress, they should first resign from their positions and seek fresh elections. The BJP demands that leaders resign from their MLA or MP posts before joining our party.Accusing Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy of encouraging defections, BJP Legislature Party Leader A Maheshwar Reddy challenged the Chief Minister to make all the MLAs who defected from other parties to the Congress resign and seek reelection.

He mentioned that, in the past, Revanth Reddy advocated for playing a band in front of the houses of MLAs who switched parties as a form of public shaming. However, now Reddy is encouraging such defections.

Regarding the disqualification petition against Khairatabad BRS MLA Danam Nagender, he stated that his party had already written to the Speaker requesting Nagender’s disqualification for defecting to Congress. ‘We will write to the Speaker again to disqualify Danam. It’s unprecedented for a sitting MLA from one party to contest a Lok Sabha election on another party’s ticket. We are optimistic that, following the Supreme Court’s directions, he will be disqualified within 90 days,’ he said.

The senior BJP MLA also claimed that multiple MLAs from rival parties were poised to join the BJP. ‘When the time is right, we will disclose the numbers,’ he added.
